The Sun is Still Shining in Sequim, Washington

2020 might not have been our brightest year, but one of the true highlights was the introduction of the Sequim Sunshine Festival in early March.  2021 will bring a modified version of the festival on March 5 & 6 that encourages people to come out and have some fun but not to gather in large groups.

Why a Sunshine Festival in Sequim?  The festival focuses on one of Sequim’s best-known features – Sunshine!  In a typically wet western Washington, Sequim has an annual rainfall of just 16 inches, that’s about the same as Los Angeles.  It might not always be sunny in Sequim, but the odds are better than anywhere else in the region.  And if the sun doesn’t shine, no worries.  Sunny Sequim will help you make your own sun with fun activities and their small, friendly town atmosphere.

You can register now and get all the details for the Sun Fun Color Run at  They are hoping to have an in-person event on Saturday, March 6, which will be orchestrated to meet all state safety guidelines.  A virtual event is also offered. The course at Carrie Blake Park will be marked all week, so participants can come out whenever it is most convenient.  Registration packets will have everything you need for a spectacularly colorful run or walk.

Gather the family and go on a goose chase to learn more about the Sequim community.  Sunny Sequim has put together a scavenger hunt that will take you around town with fun puzzles and riddles.  You will visit local businesses and landmarks on your journey and learn a little bit more about this special place.

Enjoy the lights and look for signs of kindness. Sunny Sequim is lighting up the winter night with special light displays in town.  In addition, the Sequim City Council has proclaimed 2021 The Year of Kindness.  You will find reminders and symbols throughout the town encouraging us all to be kind to one another as we get beyond these challenging times.

The future looks bright.  The charming small town of Sequim is looking forward to your visit as they Celebrate the Sun and look forward to the spring and summer seasons.  Visit the website at to learn more about the Sequim Sunshine Festival and for everything you need to plan your trip.
