Kamloops is the quintessential motorcycle-friendly city. Highways and back roads fan out in all directions to create loop-tour routes perfect for exploring the ranchlands and countryside in this scenic section of British Columbia. If you’re traveling from Vancouver, half the fun is getting to Kamloops via Highway 5 or its uber-scenic alternate 5A.
Kamloops is on record as being one of the the warmest cities in Canada. Translation: lots of sunny days for outdoor fun. This city of 85,000 makes an excellent base for a motorcycle touring vacation, and you won’t be short on resources to choose the best routes for you. Tourism Kamloops has an exceptionally well-organized website to help visitors select the best tour, whether by regular or dual sport motorcycle.
A variety of in-city attractions keep visitors well entertained while not on one of the touring loops. Try a self-guided downtown brew tour to cool off on a hot day. At The Noble Pig Brewhouse, you can enjoy a sampler of their house-made craft beers and grab some elevated pub grub (thenoblepig.ca). Other downtown brew options include two Irish-style pubs and a taphouse; for the brewery tour, see tourismkamloops.com/brewery-
Another popular attraction is the B.C. Wildlife Park (bczoo.org), where you can view a variety of indigenous animals and visit the park’s Discovery Centre (climate controlled!) to learn more about the park’s residents.
