Enjoy fun and excitement in Grants Pass, Oregon this summer

Need an excuse to finally book that getaway? Southern Oregon’s Grants Pass offers unique events that celebrate its small-town charm, a Mediterranean-like climate, and endless natural beauty. From annual favorites like Boatnik and Art Along the Rogue to outdoor farmers markets, a lineup of lively events will have you circling “Grants Pass Getaway” on your summer calendar.

May kicks off with Oregon Wine Month when Applegate Valley Wine Country hosts Uncorked, a self-guided tour where attendees can sample from 18 tasting rooms along the route. A Memorial Day tradition since 1959, Boatnik festivities include boat races on the Rogue River, a downtown parade, a carnival, and a petting zoo, followed by fireworks and more!

In June, Porchfest returns to the historic neighborhood district, where vintage homes provide a marvelous backdrop for live music performed from their porches. The Grants Pass outdoor Grower’s Market runs Saturday mornings through the summer, showcasing locally grown food and artisan makers. Extend the stay into midweek and enjoy the free Tuesday night Concerts in the Parks throughout June and July.

In July, relive the good ol’ days at Back to the Fifties, a week-long celebration featuring 1950s car shows, sock hops, and ice cream socials. Next explore historic downtown at the monthly Alive at Five, a celebration where retailers, galleries, and restaurants host performances and events showcasing local and regional artists. Then continue the nostalgic fun with a stop at Grants Pass Drive In, open Friday and Saturday nights through the summer.

August marks the annual Josephine County Fair, where all can enjoy traditional fair foods, games, rides, and live music. Staying midweek? Be sure to check the weekly live entertainment calendar for a listing of performances around town any night of the week!

And, because Grants Pass holds true to its motto, “it’s the climate,” warm weather and events extend into fall. In October, visitors will love Southern Oregon’s only chalk art street festival, Art Along the Rogue, when artists craft street art with chalk, and attendees enjoy live music and local food and drink while watching the masterpieces unfold.

With endless options for first-class food and drink, shopping, history, outdoor recreation, and exploration, Grants Pass’ dynamic events are a perfect reason to book an extended stay this summer and enjoy all the area has to offer!
