The Portland Cello Project flies north this weekend to the Kirkland Performance Center. Since their formation in 2007, the Portland Cello Concert has continued to increase their repertoire of music, ranging from Brittney Spear’s “Toxic” to pieces composes by Arvo Pärt.
With over 800 different pieces under their belt to choose from, each concert is unique. Their performances range from a group of four to six cellists, to a complete ensemble of 12 cellists, a full choir, wind instruments and percussion.
This concert includes three special guests: singer Laura Gibson, who is hailed by NPR as “nothing short of a masterpiece”, cellist Nancy Ives, who reviews have called “achingly lovely”, and Howe Gelb, who consistently “defies music expectation.”
