Celebrate the Sun at the Sequim Sunshine Festival

Shake off the winter blues and celebrate the coming of the spring and summer seasons at the Third Annual Sequim Sunshine Festival on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5. This festival has activities that will get you outdoors and moving, will stir your creative juices, and inspire you with light and positive energy.

First Friday Art Walk kicks off the festival with galleries and businesses throughout town exhibiting work from local artists. Be sure to stop by Pioneer Memorial Park for the Interactive Light Experience. This custom-built, interactive environment blends art and science encouraging visitors to look at light as an artistic design element and the physical properties of light. Drop by a coffee shop and restaurant or two as many of them will offer special discounts and menu items for the festival.

A full day of events is in store for Saturday, March 5, starting with the Sun Fun Color Run at Carrie Blake Park. This popular event is a family favorite and a great way to get energized for the rest of the day. Learn more and register at https://visitsunnysequim.com.

Visit the Sunshine Market at the Guy Cole Event Center and pick up festival merchandise and local products or just relax and enjoy the live music as you sip on a beverage or grab a bite to eat.

Get your creativity going by contributing to the community street mural. There will be stencils, paint and brushes available for you to add to this organic piece of art, which will remain at the park for the coming year. Youth can take part in a luminary workshop to create their own source of light.

Saturday evening will bring the return of the Illuminated Drone Show by Firefly Drone Show Company. You won’t want to miss this spectacular display of art and technology. https://www.fireflydroneshows.com/

In a typically wet Western Washington, Sequim is in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains and has an average annual rainfall of just 16 inches. While no one can’t guarantee it will be sunny for the festival, the odds are better than anywhere else in the region.
