Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, Montana

With over 120,000 acres of land in Southern Montana extending into Northern Wyoming, and with two visitor centers, the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area is a phenomenal spot for people to immerse themselves in the true beauty of the Western landscape. Within the Recreation Area, there are more than 12,000 years of human history to explore.

In the 55-mile stretch of the Bighorn Canyon, the dam has harnessed the water from the Bighorn River and turned it into a scenic lake flanked by the towering canyon walls. On and near the lake, you can view several varieties of waterfowl and other wildlife.

Plenty of recreational opportunities are available as well, such as 17 miles of hiking trails for all levels of expertise, biking, camping, boating and fishing within the serenity of this park.
