Glide across the snow this winter at the speed of dog. At Oregon’s renowned Mount Bachelor, an Iditarod veteran and her faithful dog sled team will whoosh you across the snowy landscape while you are tucked in, snug and warm, under a lap blanket. Rachael Scdoris, who completed her first Iditarod in 2006, runs Oregon Trail of Dreams, along with her husband and father.
When you arrive, you’ll have time to meet the musher and the dog team. And then you’ll have approximately an hour of orientation and trail time. If you’re a dog person, you can even opt to care for, water and feed the hard-working dogs after the trip.
Once you’re in the sled, you can relax and marvel at the Central Oregon Cascade peaks of Broken Top, the Three Sisters and Mount Bachelor.
You can also opt for a twilight trip, a magical time of day in the snowy Cascades as the alpenglow settles over the landscape.
