Looking to shake off that winter chill? Grab your dancing shoes and head to Capitol Hill’s Century Ballroom for their weekly all-ages Sunday Swing Dance, no booking or reservation required. The ballroom is in the historic Oddfellows Building. Follow the sound of big band hits playing from the second floor, and you can’t miss it.
If you’re a beginner, you’re not alone! Every Sunday starts off with a half-hour group intro lesson, where you’ll learn the basics to dance the night away. Come with a partner or fly solo—this community dance space is great for meeting new people and celebrating the tradition of swing dance.
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, savory or bubbly, stop by the Tin Table across the hall for a sparkling rosé flight and a variety of small plates and entrees, perfect for some liquid courage before a dance or even a snack while you rest your feet.
The Century Ballroom offers a variety of weekly all-ages dances and lessons across dance genres including bachata, lindy hop, salsa and waltz. The swing intro lesson begins at 9:00 p.m. every Sunday and costs only $9. Learn more at centuryballroom.com.
