Alaska might be the state that’s most famous for sled dogs, but down in the lower 48 you can take an exhilarating sled-dog ride at Idaho’s Silver Sage Mushing. Located in Eastern Idaho, Silver Sage offers rides through the Gem State’s high desert country with incredible views of the Tetons.
Upon arrival at the site, you’ll have a short Mushing 101 class to learn about dogsledding and how to do it safely. Then you’ll take a snowmobile ride to the start of the course. There you’ll meet an enthusiastic team of dogs, most of which have been rescued from local shelters and trained for the sport.
Silver Sage offers three different trip options: a short trip, a medium trip and a longer trip. No matter which one you choose, you’re guaranteed to have a blast taking in the pristine winter scenery as you rush by at speeds of up to 12 MPH.
This outdoor adventure is perfect for all ages and abilities and is sure to create lasting memories (and maybe return visits).
