Crater Lake National Park

With more than 200 days of sunshine per year, a Southern Oregon fall getaway is the answer to the rainy doldrums. Visit in September and plan a day to Crater Lake National Park. Saturdays, September 17 and 24, Crater Lake hosts two car-free days with the popular Ride The Rim – Ride, Run, Walk event. Registration is free and weather is typically picture-perfect during this event.

Harry & David, Harvest Fair, BrewFest & BBQ

September in Medford and the Rogue Valley also hosts a variety of other popular events including A Taste of Harry & David, September 3 and 4 at the Harry & David Country Village. If you’re a foodie, this event is for you. Since 1934, Harry & David has become America’s premier choice for gourmet gifts. The event features artisan foods, award-winning wines, live music, the “perfect Pairing: Chef Challenge” and the “Chopped Chef Challenge” where local chefs battle to produce the best dish from the same ingredients.

If you love BBQ and brews, you’ll want to plan your visit to Medford, September 16-18, when Southern Oregon Harvest Fair & BrewFest and Battle of the Bones will be at the Jackson County Expo. Family-fun events, local foods and a beer garden with over 60 award-winning microbrews from around the Pacific Northwest will be on tap. Plus, Battle of the Bones is a BBQ competition not to be missed. You can nibble on samples of mouth-watering chicken wings, brisket and chili.
